Release R2008a is available now!
Starting from R2008a, all software in the
MATLAB and Simulink product families will
require activation. The latest updates include
new features in MATLAB and Simulink, two new
products, and updates and bug fixes to 82
other products. It introduces new capabilities
for object-oriented programming, parallel
computing, verification and validation, code
generation, and Embedded MATLAB.

PolySpace
Embedded Software Verification
The PolySpace products can be used on hand-written
code, or code generated automatically from Model-Based
Design tools, to detect run-time errors before code
is compiled and executed. |

Designing
for Reliability and Robustness
Creating
designs that are reliable and robust is
a great challenge for many design engineers
due to uncertainty or natural variation
in the operational process. This article
describes tools and techniques in MATLAB®,
Statistics Toolbox, and Optimization
Toolbox software that let you extend
a traditional design optimization approach
to account for uncertainty in your design,
improving quality and reducing prototype
testing and overall development effort.

Hands-on
Workshop on Model-Based Design with Signal Processing
& Communication
TechSource Systems kick started the year with our first
workshop on Model-Based Design with Signal Processing
& Communication in Penang Skills Development Centre
(PSDC) on 21 February 2008. Issues associated with traditional
development process were addressed in this half-day workshop
to show how the engineers can use MATLAB and its toolboxes
to streamline the process for higher performance. |

Designing
Control Logic in Event Driven Systems
18 Mar (9pm), 19 Mar (2am)
Event-driven systems are usually viewed as a sequence
of transactions that operate on data or result in decisions.
The control logic behind these decisions is driven by
the current state of the system and is often expressed
as a finite state machine. This webinar will illustrate
how to use Stateflow® to design such control logic
in a SimEvents® model.

What's
New for Object-Oriented Programming in MATLAB
10 Apr (9pm), 11 Apr (2am)
R2008a includes major enhancements to the object-oriented
programming capabilities in MATLAB®, enabling easier
development and maintenance of large applications and
data structures. This webinar will demonstrate how to
define classes and work with objects, and the benefits
of this programming approach over traditional procedural
techniques.
